  General Tattooing   Aftercare Information

1. A common cause of infection is from your own fingers! Everything you touch is covered with bacteria so it makes sense that every time you pick at or touch your fresh tattoo you are contaminating it with the bacteria on your own hands. Wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your tattoo for any reason other than cleaning and application of recommended aftercare (A & D ointment, Tattoo Goo ).

2. Wash your tattoo with gentle soap and cool water Blot dry or let air dry for a few minutes. . Do not use soaps with antiperspirants, cetyl alcohol or stearic acid, these products can cause irritation and can lead to infection as well as some color loss. Blot dry or let air dry for a few minutes.

3. Rub in a very light coat of A & D ointment into your tattoo, repeat this process 3-4 times a day for the first week, then once a day for the rest of the month.

4, Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight while healing and out of chlorinated water (swimming pools, hot tubs). Wear loose fitting clothing. It will peel and maybe itch (that’s normal), just don't pick at it or scratch it.

5. You know your own body better than anyone else. Watch it closely and remember that if you treat your body well it will respond by healing well.

6. Call us if you have any questions or concerns! 603-444-9800
